The following is an exercise in laughing at ourselves in our work towards gender justice in Churches of Christ. This journey is filled with frustration, anxiety, and stress. Maybe this will provide a much needed chuckle.

When asked to explain full inclusion in just a couple of minutes (after of course them beating it into you, or trying to, for HOURS AND HOURS)...

The way people accuse you of acting when you try to have a charitable and articulate conversation about gender justice...

When people ask us to say what we think about the full inclusion of women in our churches that are functionally or formally opposed to such ideas (and the suggestion that it is "safe" for us to do so)...

When a (Gentile) man suggests that women can't be leaders because  Jesus only had male apostles... the only reaction we have never had is this:

When you read Half-Baked Thoughts about "women's roles" with so many assumptions and internal flaws that you don't know how to react...

Your initial reaction to the idea that we have to "be patient" about gender justice "for the sake of unity"...

When someone is trying to argue with you against gender inclusivity, and if they stopped and thought about it, they just confirmed everything you've been saying...

When you hear gender exclusive language in sermons and in reference to Communion...

When elders say, "We know this is the right thing to do, but we just can't right now."
